Schlow Library Board
The Schlow Centre Region Library Board, established by the State College Borough Council in accordance with the Pennsylvania Library Code, is responsible for making policy for the Library and for overseeing Library operations. The goal of the Library is to provide the residents of the Centre Region with the widest possible variety of library materials and to offer programs and services that are best suited to the needs and interests of its residents. Since 1970, Schlow Centre Region Library has been a regional Library, jointly funded and governed by the Borough of State College and the Townships of College, Ferguson, Harris, Halfmoon and Patton. The Library Board has nine members, two appointed by State College Borough Council and seven appointed by the participating townships. College Township nominates one of these members.
Members may also serve on the Library’s Finance or Building Committees. The average Board member attends twelve to fifteen meetings per year, which includes both Board and Committee meetings. The Library Board meets once a month.
