College Township Water Authority (CTWA)
This notice is to inform you of your responsibility to ensure the quality of water throughout your building(s). Please note that the water supplied by the College Township Water Authority meets or exceeds all DEP regulations but if your building and/or businesses have been closed for weeks or months resulting in a reduction of water usage, the potential exists for water to become stagnant inside the building plumbing. This water may become unsafe to drink or otherwise use for domestic or commercial purposes.
EPA recommends that building owners and managers take proactive steps to protect public health by minimizing water stagnation during closures and take action to address building water quality prior to reopening. Information can be found on the CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/building-water-system.html) or you can follow the link posted on the Township’s website at www.collegetownship.org under the ‘Departments’ tab.
College Township Water Authority
The College Township Water Authority (the "CTWA") was formed by resolution of the Council of College Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, adopted on May 2, 1996, pursuant to the Pennsylvania Municipality Authorities Act of 1945. In September 1998, the CTWA executed a management agreement with College Township ( the "Township") whereby the Township provides office space as well as the management supervision and personnel necessary to manage and operate the water system in a professional, efficient, and economic manner.
The CTWA is authorized, by resolution of the Township, to serve not only customers located within the boundaries of College Township but also adjoining municipalities that request and agree to service. Likewise, not all College Township properties are connected to the CTWA water system. Some sections of the Township are served by the State College Borough Water Authority. Our customer service department will be happy to assist you with this determination.
