Dale Summit Area Revitalization

The Dale Summit area of College Township is situated around the intersections of the the Benner Pike (State Route 150) and College Avenue (State Route 26) and Shiloh Road. This section of the municipality is probably best known by its "defining development" of the Nittany Mall and the former Corning Plant.

For the past 20 years, Dale Summit has experienced somewhat slow and fragmented development. This, when combined with the closure of the Corning Plant, formerly a top employer in the Centre Region, and the decline of the Nittany Mall, consistent with the national trend in the retail sector, has contributed to the gradual eroding of Dale Summit's sense of place.

Recognizing this issue, College Township is currently undertaking efforts aimed at the revitalization of Dale Summit. These efforts involve the creation of a Dale Summit Redevelopment Plan and the intent to transition from traditional zoning to a Dale Summit Form-Based Code.
